Importing geomechanics simulation results (GEM™ only)

Import Results Geomechanics form (simulate > GEM > Tools > Import Results Geomechanics) can be used to manually import the results (.gmch.sr3 file) from a CMG simulator geomechanics run. Typically the import is done automatically when the simulation is successfully run using simulate > GEM > Tools > Run Simulations, but if the simulation was run separately this form can be used.

For simulation cases defined with a geomechanics section, JewelSuite uses a dual grid system, as defined by CMG terminology. A host grid is defined for reservoir simulation, where an independent geomechanics grid is defined for the geomechanics section with the GEOGRID keyword. (See Defining geomechanics for more details on this.) Since an sr3 simulation result file can contain only one grid, the GEOGRID option requires a separate geomechanics sr3 file for the independent geomechanics grid. The keyword GOUTSRF triggers the creation of a geomechanics sr3 file (*.gmch.sr3) that is separate from the reservoir simulation sr3 file (*.sr3). The geomechanics simulation result file has the same name as the simulation case with the extension '.gmch.sr3'.

To import geomechanics results (*.gmch.sr3) to an existing case

  1. At the top of the form, select the Simulation case of interest. Only simulation cases with a geomechanics section defined (with a geomechanics 3D grid assigned) are available for selection.
  2. For the Result file (.gmch.sr3) click the ellipsis button to browse and select the result file in .gmch.sr3 format.
  3. Click the Apply button to complete the importing of the results and keep the form open, or click OK to complete the importing of the results and close the form.

Once imported, the 3D grid geomechanics simulation results will be available in the JewelExplorer under the 3D Grids > your geomechanics 3D grid > Properties > your case name Geomechanics Results folder.
